Snapdeal founder Kunal Bahl success story
This blog is a great motivation for all those students who prepared for IIT-JEE but was not able to clear it. Like all the students of non-med kunal was also preparing for IIT-JEE exam but was not able to make it. But deep inside he knew that it is greatest blessing of his life.
His life after 10 standard
His parents and all the relatives had already assumed that like his elder brother nikhil he too will study in IIT. Actually his interest was in commerce. But his parents persuaded him by saying that there is no future in commerce just like typical Indian parents. Actually His father worked as a typical worker in a coal mine. His father at that that point realized that if he will not do something good. Then his sons future will end in darkness. He then started doing automobile related work. And his sons was not able to see him for many days.
After the failure in IIT-JEE for the whole one year he started working in an manufacturing company. He started his work basically to divert his mind from study. Then he realized that he don’t want to go through a common engineering + MBA. Then he applied for Wharton university in US. It was one and only university in US which provide business + engineering degree in time period of 5 years. Kunal cleared all his exams in 4 years and got the degree.
During his college he pitched his first business modal. There was a great craze among Indian students regarding the cricket world cup 2003 . It was at that time cricket was going to be live streamed on internet. He bought its subscription and sold cola and snacks to earn money.
After his college he got job in Microsoft . But due to rejection of his visa application he has to quit his job and came back to India. It was the second failure of his life but it too turned out to be a blessing in his life.
When Kunal decided to start his business none of his family member opposed him. They knew that after seeing so much in his life. he is mature enough to know what is right or wrong for him. After the long discussion of 8 hours with his friend Rohit he came up with a business plan and name Snapdeal. Their business plan at that time was to provide coupon and online deals. And surprisingly they beat all their competitors in the market.
Conversion to e-commerce
After their tour from China they realized the power of e-commerce. They decided to run an experiment and they put some products on their website. They had a really positive result . After this they informed all their investors that there will be no more coupon on their website.
There was a time when Kunal arranged a meeting with the principal of DPS RK Puram. And asked him about to give a guest lecture on entrepreneurship and any student of any age can attend this lecture. But he refused by saying that they have enough money. I can’t just imagine that what kind of things a person like kunal can provide to the students.
